We are readying our home for a walking tour here in Louisville, Kentucky. Louisville neighborhoods are full of differing styles: shotguns, bungalows, contemporary, traditional , Tudors and revivals to name a few. At the time these homes were built they demonstrated what was the best in design and construction. This wide variety of homes is what gives Louisville it’s amazing charm.
Mary’s home lies in the Highlands in Louisville, specifically the original Highlands neighborhood. The Highlands began with a land grant and its first development was a plantation known as the Briar Patch. The area grew slowly and land was sold off and divided into subdivisions eventually evolving into the Highlands of today. The original Highlands is one of the most desirable areas to live in or visit in Louisville. The historically preserved Victorian styles, is seen here more than almost anywhere in the city.
Not only is the Highlands rich when it comes to the character of its housing, the area also has a wealth of unique shops, parks, cafes, farmer’s markets, clubs, plus American and International restaurants all conveniently located within walking distance of most homes.
